Charles H. Wright Museum Honors Ali

The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History unveiled a new statue of Muhammad Ali on December 20, 2001. The ceremony took place prior to a special sneak preview screening of the Columbia Pictures film "Ali.'' Christy Coleman, President and CEO of the Museum of African American History said "This is the perfect time to unveil our tribute to this champion athlete, Muhammad Ali.'' The statue, created by artist Donald Thibodeaux, will be permanently erected in the museum's garden in the spring of 2002.
