Aimed at a generation raised wholly on comic book superheroes, Power Rangers and video games, enter "Invincible," a high-kickin’ fluffy martial arts joy ride designed to appeal to the mystic warrior in all of us.

If "The Matrix" can be defined as a genre, and you missed "Invincible" Nov. 18, you might want to set your VCR and catch the Superstation’s encore performances listed below.

"Titanic’s" Billy Zane stars as Os, a dark angel who has been prowling the earth for a millennia, and is the right hand and most trusted friend of the leader of the evil Shadowmen whose sole purpose on Earth is to terrorize mortals.

Os recruits four unlikely mortals, a soldier (Tory Kittles), an undercover cop (Stacy Oversier), a bodyguard (Byron Mann) and a thief (Dominic Purcell) to fight the Shadowmen.

The premise of the story has Os trying to keep a secrete stone tablet out of the hands of the Shadowman, because the inscription reveals how to destroy the Earth.

But forget about the premise. It’s just a device to move the story along. "Invincible," the brainchild of martial arts master Jet Li and "Lethal Weapon’s" Mel Gibson, shines best when its complex martial arts fights take center stage.

Tory Kittles plays Ray Jackson, a hotheaded exsoldier who, through discipline taught by Os, comes to understand love and how to release the hurt feelings he acquired growing up with an abusive father.

"Ray’s element is fire," Kittles says, "and that says it all for him. His fighting style is really harsh, with hard kicks and brutal punches, just like fire."

Kittles says "Invincible" director Tony Ching is brilliant in the way he comes up with these amazing action sequences on the spot.

"When you see it on camera, it’s just beautiful," Kittles says.

Taking a page from director Ang Lee’s beautiful "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," "Invincible" is punctuated by wirework, the complex system of choreography martial arts fight scenes which defies gravity.

"Invincible" out Matrix the "Matrix," and is excellent escapism fare.
