If you missed Black Starz original production "Hughes’ Dream Harlem," you can still catch the stylish documentary throughout the month of September and October. critics suggest that viewers set their VCRs to record this surprising fresh documentary which pays tribute to renowned Harlem Renaissance poet, Langston Hughes. Highlighted with interviews with stage and film icons Ruby Dee and Ossie Davis, the film is punctuated with commentary by aspiring young writers and Black and white flashback recreations of the celebrated poet laureate’s life.

The documentary which takes its audience on a literal and spiritual journey to Hughes’ beloved community Harlem, begins in Hughes’ home and continues with a tour of historical Strivers Row and ends at a Harlem jazz club.

Shot entirely in Harlem, "Hughes’ Dream Harlem" features a powerful ensemble of writers, poets and actors who share anecdotes on Hughes’ literary legacy. It’s an excellent program.
