Coverage:
Did he? Or didn't he? Samuel L. Jackson stars as Col. Terry Childers, a decorated officer with Vietnam, Beirut and Desert Storm behind him, now being court-martialed for ordering his marines to open-fire on crowd of civilian protesters during a rescue mission in the Middle East.
However, Childers claims that many of the civilian protesters were firing at his soldiers. So Childers chooses Col. Hay Hodges (Tommy Lee Jones) to defend him, not because Hodges is a terrific lawyer, but because Hodges is a Vietnam vet who owes his life to Childers and knows what its like to be under-fire by covert forces using civilian's as human shields. But even Hodges has a hard time believing Childers' innocence after he visits the scene of the massacre.
Rules Of Engagement is a tense, well acted courtroom drama that leaves the audience guessing to the end about Childers' innocence or guilt. |
