Coverage:
It's 1980 and Castro is emptying out his overcrowded prisons. Anjelica Huston plays the wife of a released political prisoner (Alfred Molina) who has been waiting for years for her husband in Miami. On the day the boat reaches Miami, Huston sends her brother down to get her husband, but he doesn't recognize him. Or so he says. As a result, Molina has to stay in a refuge camp until he can find a sponsor. Of course, a prostitute (Marisa Tomei) tells him he can find a sponsor faster if he has a family. So Molina and Tomei start rounding up other exiles named Perez, unrelated of course, to fool the U.S. officials into thinking they're family.
The Perez Family is a funny and sentimental movie about love and waiting too long to find the right person. |
