The Mod Squad's Omar Epps plays rookie police officer Jeff Cole who volunteers to go undercover to bust Cincinnati's biggest drug lord named, God (LL Cool J) in this gritty and often times freighting crime-drama. The only problem is, Cole begins to develop conflicting loyalties between the police department and the drug dealers after he infiltrates the drug operation. The film treats Cole's conflict seriously and doesn't resort to the typical Hollywood formula where the hero comes out squeaky clean. In Too Deep deals with a lot of gray areas that entangles Cole's investigation. Despite a contrived love plot which seems plague these type of movies, Epps plays the role of Jeff Cole with true conviction.
