I suppose in a perfect world, the Easter Bunny pooping watermelon-flavored jellybeans that taste good would be great. Although, I wouldn’t want to be that brave soul to test that theory.

Enter “Hop,” a light and breezy fairytale about a world where Easter rabbits do poop jellybeans, and cute yellow baby chicks plan to take over the Easter business. However, “Hop’s” world is far from perfect. Hop’s storyline is uneven and it tries to be so fluffy it could almost float away. Then it overdoses on cultural commentary.

“Hop’s” premise follows a young hare named EB, who’s destined to become the Easter Bunny. However, EB wants to be a rock ‘n roll drummer, not a once-a-year painted egg delivery hero. So he runs away to Hollywood and meets Fred, a 20-something human who thinks EB is a hallucination, brought on by the stress of his family forcing him to grow up and do something with his life.

Parents and critics who find “Hop” a little bit too much of a good thing should relax and have a handful of watermelon-flavored jellybeans. The filmmakers knew their target audience, and hit a bull’s eye.
