The third screen adaptation of a Tom Clancy novel, featuring CIA agent Jack Ryan, is not bad for a political thriller. After the President's friend is murdered by a Colombian drug cartel, Ryan (Harrison Ford) finds himself in middle of deceptive alliances between the American government, the drug cartels, and covert American operations.
The movie starts off slow, as the ground work is laid for this complex thriller, but it finally picks up speed as Ryan's motorcade is ambushed by rocket-fire in the streets of Bogata.
One thing about Clancy stories is that you can always count on seeing the latest high-tech equipment. Clear And Present Danger is no exception. We're afforded an inside glimpse of CIA voice matching computers, smart bombs that don't leave shrapnel and laser eavesdropping equipment.
Although this is a thriller, like Patriot Games the third act is loaded with action and violence. |
