The film recreates, through interviews and file footage, what is was like that morning in 1958 when a photo was taken for Esquire magazine of all the great black jazz musicians they could persuade to come out and have their picture taken.      Filmmaker Jean Bach, nominated for an Oscar for this film, had a great idea for a story about a picture and an historic event.
