Smooth jazz guitarist George Benson’s new CD "Songs and Stories," is like a visit from an old friend. Mixing familiar soul, jazz, funk and fusion scatting-in-sync with his guitar, George easily breezes back into the funk. The 10 time Grammy award-winner opens with James Taylor's "Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight" featuring Tonhino Horta (acoustic guitar) and Paulinho da Costa (percussion).

Punctuated with classic seductive, soulful and fluid Benson vibes, "Songs and Stories" is a swaying mix of fast-pace and lively songs. In fact, Benson does several other classic covers including "Someday We'll All Be Free" (Donny Hathaway), "Rainy Night in Georgia" (Brook Benton) and "Sailing" (Christopher Cross).

Benson’s is joined by guest artists the Perri Sisters and Patti Austin (background vocals), keyboardist Greg Phillinganes, saxophonists Tom Scott and Gerald Albright and bassist John Burk to bring this delightful collection of songs to life. The CD’s highlighted with the soulful  “Family Reunion” which is getting plenty of air time on XM radio’s Watercolors channel, and “Nuthin’ But a Party” a the jamin’ tune featuring jazz guitarist Norman Brown a funky tune where the two guitar masters jell.  Listeners and fans will be hard-pressed to find a better dynamic duo. “Songs and Stories” is a must to add any jazz collection.
